Two little raindrops were born in a shower,

And one was so pompously proud of his power,

He got in his head an extravagant notion.

He’d hustle right off and swallow the ocean.

A blade of grass that grew by the  brook

Called for a drink, but no notice he took

Of such trifling things. He must hurry to be

Not a mere raindrop, but the whole sea.

A stranded ship needed water to float,

But he could not bother to help a boat.

He leaped in the sea with a puff and a blare-

And nobody ever knew he was there!

But the other drop as along it went

Found the work to do for which it was sent;

It refreshed the lily as it drooped its head,

And bathed the grass That was almost dead.

It got under the ships as it helped them along,

And all the while sang a cheerful song.

It worked every step of the way it went,

Bringing joy to others, to itself content.

At last it came to its journey’s end,

And welcomed the sea as an old-time friend.

“An ocean,” it said, “there could not be

Except for the millions of drops like me.”

If you want to change your own life then you need to change the way that you deal with others. If you are selfish and only concerned about your own problems and rewards, do not be surprised if no one cares about yours. The saying “A problem shared is a problem halved.” is very true. It can be a lonely road when you have no one to share your problems with.

The easiest way to become successful is to help others to become successful. Have you ever heard of a businessman that got richer by not sharing his products? Of course not, people invent things to help solve problems and the bigger the problem it solves the better the rewards. It makes no difference how much wealth you accumulate, when your time comes you cannot take it with you, but nothing can take away the satisfaction of knowing that you were of assistance to people you met along the way.

Do not be the drop of water that dissolved unnoticed into the sea. Instead be the one that helped others on the way and bought great joy to them and itself. There are so many ways that we can help others, but it must be done with a good heart. It is no good helping others just to get rewards for yourself.  Napoleon Hill wrote “Sooner or later the world will find you out and reward you or penalize you for exactly what you are.”

Hold Fast To Your Dreams

Hold fast to your dreams!

Within your heart

Keep one still secret spot

Where dreams may  go,

And, sheltered so.

Where doubt and fear are not.

O keep a place apart,

Within your heart,

For little dreams to go!

Think still of lovely things that are not true.

Let wish and magic work at will in you.

.Be sometimes blind to sorrow. Make believe!

Forget the calm that lies

In disillusioned eyes.

Though we all know that we must die,

Yet you and I

May walk like gods and be

Even now at home in immortality.

We see so many ugly things-

Deceits and wrongs and quarrellings;

We know, alas! we know

How quickly fade

The colour in the west,

The bloom upon the flower,

The bloom upon the breast

And youth’s blind hour.

Yet keep within your heart

A place apart

Where little dreams may go,

may thrive and grow.

Hold fast- hold fast to your dreams!

– Louise Driscoll

Do you remember the dreams that you had when you were young? Whatever happened to them? Most of us just think that they were childish fantasies and that we have just grown up and left them behind.

Next time you see a child playing make believe, look how easy it is for them. They dress up and they pretend that, with a scarf outstretched behind them that they have wings to fly, or they sit in a cardboard box and go on an adventure in their own, fine ocean liner. Did you ever put chairs in a line behind each other and pretend that you were a train driver?  Did you ever pretend that you were a soldier or a nurse. When you were asked what you wanted to be when you grew up, what was your answer? A doctor, a nurse, a pilot, can you even remember?

When did your dreams start to fade? Do you remember being told to stop being so silly, to start growing up, to be sensible?

What we grown-ups seem to forget is that the toys we provide our children with are the tools that equip them for life. My brother loved building things and making transistors, he left school and became an engineer. My little sister used to like playing doctors and nurses, she is now a nurse. My parents encouraged them to hold on to their dream and eventually they realised their dreams. They are happy and content in their work because it is just an extension of their play.

If you are unhappy in your work it is because you are not doing a job that you love. Your job should be something that you enjoy and then it is not just a job but a fulfilling career-or an extension of your play.

Write down all the things that you used to enjoy doing. Do they play any roll in your life now, if not, why not? The answer is not because of circumstances being against you or there being no vacancies in the area that you love, or the fact that you don’t have the qualifications for your ideal job. The truth is that you let go of your dreams. You came up against a problem and took another direction and then you just accepted the outcome and got on with it. You can come up with as many reasons as you want but they are not valid reasons they are excuses. I am sorry if that offends you but it is the truth. YOU and only YOU had the choice, no one could make you choose anything different once you were of age to make up your own mind. You choose your future, but you still have the chance to live the life you dreamed of. Some people say “I’m too old now to change paths”, but it is never too late as long as you are still alive.

As long as you hold your dream and never give up, you will reach your goal. So when is the best time to change your life?

Start From Where You Are

Start where you are and never mind the past,

The past won’t help you in beginning new,

If you have left it all behind at last

Why, that’s enough, you’ve done with it, you’re through;

This is another chapter in the book,

This is another race that you have planned,

Don’t give the vanished days a backward look,

Start where you stand.

The world won’t care about your old defeats

If you can start anew and win success,

The future is your time, and time is fleet

And there is much of work and strain and stress;

Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,

Here is a brand new trial right at hand,

The future is for him who does and dares,

Start where you stand.

Old failures will not halt, old triumphs aid,

To-day’s the thing, to-morrow soon will be;

Get in the fight and face it unafraid,

And leave the past to ancient history;

What has been, has been; yesterday is dead

And by it you are neither blessed nor banned,

Take courage, man, be brave and drive ahead,

Start where you stand.

-Berton Braley

We tend to make excuses for not doing things, not enough time, not enough money, but the truth is usually that the only thing that really stops us from starting anything is ourselves. When we really want to do something we will always find a way. There is no such thing as a problem only a solution waiting to be found. Most of us get scared of making a mistake. We draw from our past experiences and tell ourselves we cannot change who we are or what we are. We tell ourselves that we are undeserving of success and that the good life is not ours to get. That is yesterday’s thoughts, that is who you were, today you CAN be who you want to be. Learn to leave the past behind, accept where you are now and move forward. When the past starts rearing its ugly head stop the thoughts and remind yourself that you are a new person, not the you that you were yesterday. If you run into a problem you will solve it and you will learn from it. The most important thing is do not give up.  When is the best time to change your life? Don’t Just Wish- Make It Happen

Do you wish the world were better?

let me tell you what to do.

Set a watch upon your actions,

keep the always straight and true.

Rid your mind of selfish motives,

Let your thoughts be clean and high.

You can make a little Eden,

Of the sphere you occupy.

Do you wish the world were wiser?

Well!suppose you make a start.

By accumulating wisdom

In the scrapbook of your heart.

Do not waste one page on folly;

Live to learn and learn to live.

If you want to give men knowledge

You must get it, ere you give.

Do  you wish the wold were happy?

Then remember day by day

Just to scatter seeds of kindness

As you pass along the way.

For the pleasures of the many

may be ofttimes traced to one,

As the hand that plants the acorn

Shelters armies from the sun.

-Ella Wheeler Wilcox

How many of us wonder what is happening to our world and do nothing about it? We sit on the sidelines and wait for someone to come along to change things for us. I once heard a story of a little old lady on the beach. The beach was full of crabs that had been washed up in the tide. A young  man watched as she picked up the crabs one by one and threw them back into the sea. After a time he walked over and asked her “Why are you wasting your time throwing crabs back into the sea when more keep getting washed up?” She smiled at him and said “I want to make a difference.” The young man looked puzzled and replied”How can you possibly make a difference, there are so many here and you are alone?” Again she smiled at him and picked up another crab and threw it back into the sea, as she did she answered”made a difference to that one.”

No matter what small action you take it makes a difference to someone or something. If you greet someone with a smile, they will most probably pass that smile onto someone else and that smile will travel miles. If you do someone a good deed the chances are they in turn will do a good deed for someone else. Face each day with a good heart and your life will change. Have you ever noticed how problems seem to become more profound when you worry about them, they seem to go on and on and when you think you’ve solved one problem another arrives just in time to take its place. Most of us are that used to having problems that we are lost without them and start wondering what the next problem is going to be. When we keep asking for problems is it any wonder that they come along.

Instead of focusing on problems we should start to bring our focus on the good things in life, even if life is not the way you want it at the moment, be grateful. I know that may sound stupid but it has been proven that gratitude brings its own rewards. There is always something, no matter how small to be grateful for. Be grateful that you can see, or that you can hear, be grateful that you can talk or that you have somewhere to sleep.

Whenever you start feeling worried or angry, stop and ask yourself “Is this going to make things any better or is it going to make things worse?” You will soon get into the habit of changing your thoughts and start changing the way you perceive life and I guarantee your life will start improving.

If you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting.

It Really Is All In The State Of Mind

If you think that you are beaten, you are,, you are,

If you think you dare not, you don’t,

If you like to win, bu you think you can’t,

It is almost certain you won’t.

“If you think that you’ll lose. you’re lost,

For out in the world e find,

Success begins with a fellows will-

It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you’re outclassed, you are,

You’ve got to think high to rise,

You’ve got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go,

To the stronger or faster man,

But sooner or later the man who wins

W.D. Whittle

Whatever thoughts that you think, they will always seem right to you. We always seem to believe the worst about ourselves. But every thoughts that we allow into our minds determines our future.  The thoughts that have gone through your mind in the past are the thoughts that have determined where you are today, so today start changing the way that you think and your tomorrows will be better. Everything that happens to you is the result of your thought, we cannot blame anything else as we all have free will.  If you were asked to write a story of how your life should be, would you include all the bad things that have happened to you so far or would you write about your successes.  Well let me tell you now YOU are the writer of your story. YOU are the author of your book, you are the director of your life. It is up to you to decide what you want from life and the way will be made possible as long as you have a clear and precise picture in your mind of where you want to be.

Some people run into a problem and spiral into despair and yet others use that problem to their advantage and learn from it.  My beloved sister Hazel is such a person.  She had already had to fight to save her home and her family when her husband suffered a brain hemorrhage and was just getting her life sorted when her lovely son became ill. He was diagnosed with arthritis and she made sure that his life was full of fun and laughter. She took every day as it came and faced every problem with a smile.  Unfortunately it was not arthritis it was a tumor and by the time they diagnosed it properly it was too late to completely cure. When Jamie was 11 years old he was admitted to hospital and by this time he could not walk or talk. Hazel made a board that she could point to so that Jamie could still communicate with her. She stayed at the hospital and learned how to take care of him. Although Jamie could not talk he never gave up his sense of humour and his strength kept Hazel strong. Throughout his illness  Jamie always considered other people first and raised a lot of money for Birmingham children’s hospital. Jamie died that same year but his last wish was that his mother would carry on looking after the children he had befriended. Losing a child is a devastating experience and it hit Hazel hard but she was determined to celebrate the time that she had spent with Jamie and not mourn his loss. She took time to build herself up and decide on her plan for the future. She trained as a nurse and still worked full time as a carer. She passed her exams with flying colours and eventually started working in the same ward as Jamie died. Because she had lived through the experience of losing a child she knows how to help other people in those circumstances.  At times I daresay she wondered how she would get through the heartache and pain but she survived and now makes a difference to so many other peoples lives. Hazel had not set out to be a nurse, she was a carer, she was happy helping people but through adversity she became a true asset to lots of other people. Her life has changed and although she misses her son she has ensured that his spirit is living on through her work and dedication.

We hear so many stories of people facing tragedies and overcoming them as better people. My father always used to say “no matter what happens to you, always remember there is someone worse off than you and be grateful for your life.”

Are You Bargaining With Your Life?

I bargained with life for a penny

And life would pay no more,

However I begged at evening

When I counted my scanty score.

For life is just an employer,

He gives you what you ask,

But once you have set the wages,

Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire,

Only to learn, dismayed,

That any wages I had asked of Life,

Life would have willingly paid.

-Jessie B Rittenhouse

From the time we are born we spend our lives being told what we can or cannot achieve. Some people are lucky enough to have parents or family that know that these conditions mould us into what we become in adulthood and therefore encourage us, but others are not so fortunate. I assume that as you are trying to change your life you are one of the latter.

It matters not what you were yesterday only what you have become today. Many self made millionaires were told that they would never achieve anything, they left school with no qualifications and in some cases very little literary skills. So if you did not do well at school do not despair. You have as much chance of changing your life as all those before you. The only thing that will stop you from achieving success is You, no one can stop you, nothing can stop you, only your thoughts have the ability to prevent you making a success. But, you have complete control over your thoughts, you and only you can decide to do something or not to do it, to think something or not to think it, to achieve something or not to achieve it. Once you learn how to control your thoughts, the battle is over and you cannot help but to change your life.

We all have to make choices in life and usually most of us take what we think at the time is the easy option, but when we look back on the decisions we make how many of regret that we took the wrong path.

The thoughts that we have taken on board all of our lives are not our own thoughts and yet most of them live by them. I’m sure sometime or other in your life you were told, that you couldn’t do something, or have something because it was  not affordable to you. You then decided that you would have to settle for something less. When you were a child then that may have been true but it was not your ruth it was your parents truth. You are an adult now and the truth is that there is always a way of getting anything that you want in life as long as you have the desire and the belief to get it.  You are the Captain of your ship and the Master of your own destiny. Are you fed up with bargaining with your life for a penny? When is the best time to change your life? Click Here if you are ready to change your life.

Welcome To My Blog

Welcome to my blog. I will be adding new content over the next few weeks that will help you take control of your life and start living the kind of life that you deserve.

I will show you how to change your thoughts and thus change your life, using the Law of Attraction.  The Law of Attraction is as real as the Law of Gravity, it has been around since the world began.  Law of Gravity was not thought about for a long time but just because we did not question it does not mean that it did not work. The Law of Attraction is working whether we believe it or not. For all those people that don’t believe it or don’t know about it or do not know how to use it, it still is working, but it is working by default.

Once you know how to start making the Law of Attraction work for you, your life cannot stay the same. You will start taking control back and start making positive changes.

It is not hard to learn how to change your life, all you need is the desire to improve. You do not need a PHD or any other qualification. Actually if you were to do a search on most of the millionaires or multi-millionaires over the last few centuries you will find that most of them had very little schooling, a lot of them came from very poor familes and a lot of them were told that they would never amount to much. What every one of them did have was a desire to improve their lives and a knowledge of how to make the Law of Attraction work for them.

In China, India and other Eastern countries, the Law of Attraction has been taught for centuries. Napoleon Hill is one of the most noteable authors that has bought it to the attention of the Western world with his book “Think and Grow Rich”.

Over the next few weeks I will be showing you the exact same method that made Richard Branson, Henry Ford, Bill Gates and many more into multi-millionaires. You can also become  a millionaire, the only thing stopping you is yourself. Join me and see for yourself, after all what have you got to lose. If you keep doing what you are doing you will keep getting what you are getting.
